What it does

You're working in a café. You need the bathroom. You don't want to pack up your whole setup — but leaving a laptop unattended is how laptops disappear.

Arm LaptopAlarm with a double-click. Now if a thief yanks the power cable to grab your laptop and run, it instantly blasts a piercing siren at full volume through the laptop's own speakers. Heads turn, the thief panics, and your hardware stays yours.

How it works

Unplug the charger → alarm fires

The moment the power adapter is disconnected, the siren sounds and keeps going until power is restored or you disarm it.

It forces maximum volume

Even if your laptop was muted or turned down, the alarm cranks the system volume to 100% and unmutes it so the siren is genuinely loud.

Headphones can't silence it

On Bluetooth earbuds or wired headphones? The alarm reroutes sound back to the built-in laptop speakers — so the whole room hears it, not just the thief.

Frequently asked questions

Yes — 100% free to download and use. If it ever saves your gear, you can support development via a small donation, but you're never required to.

No. It's a single self-contained app. It runs on a clean Windows 10 or 11 machine with nothing else installed.

Double-click the tray icon, or right-click it and toggle Monitoring Enabled. The icon turns green when armed and red when off.

Right-click the tray icon and open the Alarm Sound menu. Pick from the built-in synthesized sirens: Classic Beep, UK Police Two-Tone, Emergency Wail, Hi-Lo European Horn.

Yes. Put a file named alarm.wav (under 1 MB) in the same folder as the app, then select Custom WAV from the Alarm Sound menu.

The alarm automatically switches output back to your laptop's built-in speakers, so the siren is heard by everyone nearby — not muffled into your headphones.

LaptopAlarm overrides it. When the alarm fires it forces the system volume to 100% and unmutes automatically.

Plug the charger back in, or disarm the app (double-click the tray icon / toggle Monitoring off).

No. All protection works fully offline. An optional "About" window shows live community stats when you're online, but it's not needed for the alarm to work.

If you install it using the installer, you can tick "Start automatically when I log in" during setup.

It checks that your laptop is set up for best protection — for example, it warns you if closing the lid would sleep the machine (which would disable the alarm).

No personal files are touched. The app only monitors power status and audio settings to do its job.

Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). That's it.
